Toot Your Horn: My favorite thing about me!

Most of us are excellent at being self-deprecating, and are not so good at the opposite. Tell us your favorite thing about yourself. - Daily Prompt: Toot Your Horn

My favorite thing about me would be that I am adjustable.

I am adjustable to so many things in life – that it’s almost a Olympic Medal achievement! (Okey! Maybe not!).

That was probably the most descent thing I learnt in the Army (besides how to dress during winter!), I can adjust!
Living with 5 other girls in a small room, sharing shower with 11 other girls – It makes you adjust like crazy..

What is your favourite thing about yourself?

  1. Wow, you made my jaw drop when I read this. I don’t think I could do that. Eleven other people much less all girls. It probably takes forever to get ready if you guys all go somewhere, right?

To be honest it wasn’t all that bad, but when you put 6 strong personalities into one tiny room! You kind of wanna eliminate 5 other people! Haha, good thing it only was for one year..

      • Eliminate 5 other people. Ha! That’s funny. One year? I have to give it to ya(virtual clap), idk if I could have done it but on the bright side, it probably had some good life lessons to take with you onto the next place.

        • MaggieMQ says:

I stayed in the army for almost five years.. But I will never live in a bunk bed and have 6 female roommates ever again( and if end up doing that please slap me!)

          • LMBO! Kudos to you for enduring a whole year of the communal living with a bunch of girls AFTER 5 years in the army. Affirmative…virtual slap on the way if you do it again. Lol

          • MaggieMQ says:

Haha thanks ;) I was so happy when I got my own room!

          • I can only imagine. You were probably glad you could walk across the floor in the morning without stepping over someone. Lol.

          • MaggieMQ says:

Stepping over was not a big problem, scaring the bats out of your roommates brain on the other hand happened a lot, since I had the top bunk she woke up to half of my body dangling down from the edge… Nothing wakes anyone up like someone who looks like they are dead and falling out bed at the same time ;)

          • OMG! That’s hilarious. I’m sure you’ve got some really good stories. Yeah, I’m sure I’d be freaked out if I wake up to someone either floating overhead or falling out of bed. Hehehe

          • MaggieMQ says:

I used to listen to my dads stories about his time in the AirForce.. And at some point they were annoying, but now I totally get where he was coming from! Best 5 years I could have asked for.

          • Thank you for serving! Although I’ve never served in the military, I’m from a military family so I appreciate you. :)

          • MaggieMQ says:

Even if it was in Norway? Thank you!
I ran in to a lot of interesting people from different nations:)

          • That’s pretty cool! I’m sure you’ve met people from over. I love that. My dad was in the army here in the US so we used to live in different places. He would tell us stories too but he was very animated when he would tell stories so we liked hearing his stories.

          • MaggieMQ says:

My dad usually only told me the fun ones.. Like the time they had a horse on the fourth floor of the barracks.. Totally not normal! Haha!

          • Oh my! Yeah, that would be one to remember. I hear ya. My dad came home one day telling us about how a black panther had stared him down(in the jungle) but then it just left. He said he was so scared because he had put his weapon down before that and it was out of reach but thankfully he lived to tell the story. Of course his version was way more animated. Ha!

          • MaggieMQ says:

Wow, yeah no panthers in Norway. Only horses in barracks ;)

          • Yeah, that was in the jungles of Panama back when we had military bases there. :)

          • MaggieMQ says:

I was always a bit jealous of the Americans since they have the possibility to be stationed from Norway in north to I have no idea what’s most south but Japan is south enough for me :)

          • I hear Norway is beautiful. I’ve never been but hopefully one day. Hey, maybe you can help me. :) What is a traditional dish from Norway? Just any one is fine. I’m pinning traditional dishes from nations all over the world to my Pinterest but I don’t have a dish from Norway yet.

          • MaggieMQ says:

http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kategori:Norsk_tradisjonsmat this might be a place to start :) The “names” are the different typical old Norwegian traditional dishes.. Not all are recommended to eat ;)

          • Yay! Thank you so much Maggie! I’ve got to go but I hope to catch up with you another time. :) Have a great day! Or is it night there now? Either way, have a good one. :)

          • MaggieMQ says:

It’s beautiful, but cold during winter.. At least most of the places I have lived.. Currently -20..

          • WHAT! Oh that’s way too cold for me. It’s about 80 degrees today in Florida.

          • MaggieMQ says:

Had – 25 here the other day..
I wish I was in Florida – nice and warm ;)

          • Yeah, I can’t complain. We really didn’t have a winter this season and being in the 80′s in January for 2 weeks straight is unusual but I like the warm.

          • MaggieMQ says:

A part of me loves how winters are in Norway, but I wouldn’t mind if it was warmer! I like when it’s snowing :)

  2. Thanks for serving, Maggie=) My sister has some crazy stories from the Navy, being on the same ship with so many people and all for six month stints. It’s so true, you have to adjust and make it work.

    Interesting post today!

Toot my own horn? I’m accepting…Being a Christian, I usually get the automatic ‘oh, you’re going to judge me because I’m (insert your own thing)’. It’s not my place to judge, period.

    • MaggieMQ says:

I believe people in general are judgmental, it’s pretty easy I guess. I’m amazed by people who have religious believes, it means that they believe in something..

      Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you :) I’m trying to get back on track with blogging again, beside work and school (I need more hours not just 24..)

      • It’s hard to be consistent with blogging but something I’ve found very helpful is to actually schedule the time for it. If it’s on a calendar/schedule, we’re more likely to leave that time open for writing.

        • MaggieMQ says:

True, I guess I have to try and do that.. Great tip :D

I just need to twist my brain around so that I actually have something to write about :)

Hope you are having an amazing day.. :)
